I put some boxes and books in a special height that when I put the box on it, its thread is gonna have the exact height I want (22,5cm). then it’s just a matter of leveling them all on the restaurant’s window.
And it did not work at all. So I had the idea of buying a type of paint that could be applied with a paint roller, so it would be fast to paint, and would leave an even layer of paint.
And it worked beautifully with two coats. I was even able to paint over the spray painted boxes and it is unnoticeable the disastrous painting they had previously.
I bought a mate red because it was the cheaper paint. But the boxes have a really beautiful color and texture. I’ll post some non-phone pictures of it later.
Just 4 more letters to go
I would’ve be finished cutting by now, but I don’t like how the P,R and E turned out, so I’m gonna do it again. I finally found a way for the tracing paper not to wrinkle with the glue. I’m gonna also use double sided carpet tape to secure it.
I tried new colors for the lamps and its not that I don’t like them. But I think I’m just gonna keep it with white and red ones. I don’t want the restaurant to look like a disco.
Also, I embellished the red lamps, they look nicer.
I say almost because I still need to enlarge the holes for the lamps. And I wanna cover them some way that they can’t be seen, but I can then change the batteries.
I made a test to see if the glue on hooks work, and how will the fishing line be put on the box. I hooked the hooks on a wooden surface because its the same surface as it will be in Presto.
In a while I’m gonna hook a finished box with lights and everything and keep it overnight to see if it held well.
p.s.: Yes, my cats insist on doing cameos.
I think I almost found a good combination.
I still not quite like the “S”
Ok, so:
I have my pizza boxes. 40×40 centimeters white inside, cardboard outside.
I’ve decided that I definitely want these letters (the ones pointed out), so I’ll start on doing them right away.
I also do know that these main boxes will all be in cardboard because it’s appearance really goes well with the restaurant’s color and decoration. It’s gonna be maybe their light colors that are going to change.
I made some tests with the lights, on how can I change their color, and here are the results. I think that in spite of the unpleasant look the lamps lined with cellophane have, they give a pretty nice light inside the boxes.
Yey! One of the contacts my brother gave me didn’t have non printed boxes at the moment, but they gave the contact of another manufacturer (in Barcelos) that they thought that might have them, and they have! They’re gonna cut 40×40 boxes specially for me, and I could pick them already tomorrow if I could.
So I called Italmarket today and they said that the boxes come already printed from Italy. I really thought they would have the boxes, that’s why I wasn’t that worried with getting the boxes, until this afternoon.
So made some online research and found some manufactures of food packaging and cardboard boxes in general and emailed them all to see if they had pizza boxes, and my idea is if they don’t respond by tomorrow afternoon, I’ll call them.

Meanwhile, I also thought that maybe Makro and Recheio, could have them, so I asked my brother that goes there frequently if he recalled seeing pizza boxes there, (since I can’t go to these shops without a special card that only business owners and such have). He said that he recalled seeing something of sorts but wasn’t too sure. Meanwhile he talked to someone that gave him the contacts of 2 manufacturers that maybe could help me. Cartonagem S. Tiago and Coopicart. When he gave me this information it was late, so first thing tomorrow morning I’m gonna call them.
